NW Washington | I think a gas range is basically pretty simple without a lot to go wrong with it, and works even when the lights go out which is nice. Gas is quick to heat things up and when you turn off the burner the water stops boiling which is lot nicer than a slow reacting electric burner. Down side it that it is an open flame in the kitchen and probably a more dangerous fire hazard than an electric range. When gas burns it creates water vapor which ends up in your house and that is the reason a gas oven is not preferred by fussy cooks. I also think that simmering things like soups and stews is easier with an electric range.
The new electric induction ranges heat fast and stop when turned off too, but they are more expensive and have more high tech parts to potentially fail. | |
