Subject: hay preservative?

Traverse City MI
This year has been miserable to make hay. Seems we cant get more than a day or 2 between showers making drying tough. We haven't used acid before and nobody around the area that i know of so nobody to ask for help. How much of a difference does it make in getting hay made? We probably bale on the drier side as its mostly all grass hay. How wet can you go before it starts to spoil? It would be used on our Gehl round baler unless we trade for one with it on it already. This will mainly be fed to beef cattle if that matters. Thanks.
