showboat, As Bill alluded to, it is likely privately held equipment (probably used, but still very good condition), along with a technician who either donates their time..... For instance.....I get my lipids and liver enzymes checked every so often. If I go through my local hospital which my family Dr. is affiliated with, they charge insurance somewhere in the $4-500 range ( to pull the blood, lab work etc). However, there is an independent lab about an hour away where I can get the same blood work done for.......$50. And the Dr. ( yes full MD from India) pulled the blood himself. He actually travels around to work meetings, or other functions offering health screening. Purdue extension would have him come to one of the field days and you could get your preferred health tests done under a tent prior to heading out to the plots. He pulls the blood, you fill out the form, and cut the check, and the results are mailed, or e-mailed to you within a week. http://hdofnwi.com/Home_Page.php Goes to show how much fat there is to cut in the whole health care racket. |
