I certainly do not want to get into the politics debates, but if health care were looked into and properly regulated by the govt, it would go a -long- ways to curing our health care issues in this country.

Hospitals have 3 rates for most things they do: govt rate (Medicare, etc), insurance rate, and cash rate. The differences are huge.

Since we need health care this minute when we need it, and don't consider pricing it ahead of time, we would be appalled if we actually looked into this issue.

Medicine is only a part of that big issue, but it is even less watched by the govt than other health issues.

A tv station here looked into different medicine costs last winter, and showed how the racket is played. The medicine makers and the insurance companies get together and set prices and carve up territories, and there are rules that they can't even discuss cash prices with customers. the price differences are just stunning.

No one cares tho.
