The 36 series shines in a feedlot ration, especially in a heavier ration where you are using a lot of distillers, syrup, etc. No knives required really if you are not processing anything. They can be added. Some guys say they see a better mix or disruption with them, but I think its negligible.
Depending on what your cow/calf ration is like, either should do a fine job. I know those rations are going to vary big time. Knives may help out in that ration, even if you are not intending to process anything.
The augers were redesigned from the 35 series for a faster and more complete mix. The 35's experienced some dead spots in certain rations and took longer to mix completely. Overall, they are very good units.
There are units running anything from dairy rations to heavy, heavy (35+ lbs/cu ft) feedlot rations and anywhere in between. The biggest thing would be the tire/axle combo setup to make sure that you are able to maximize your payload. | |
