NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | Bruce we usually rent a car twice a year when on vacation and never take the rentals insurance. We have State Farm and everytime I ask my agent about it he reassures me we're covered through State Farm to don't bother taking it. In all of our years of renting we've only had two minor accidents, one my fault and the other another persons. The minor one I did I just paid out of pocket as it was only about $150, I didn't even turn it into State Farm . The last one someone back into us so the other party paid 100% of the damage.
I know some rental companies really push you to take it some and some could care less. One thing about my insurance is I'm subject to my deductible. With the car rentals there is no detectable so that has a value also.
