Rensselaer, Indiana | I'm looking for a new small combine with a 4R30 corn head. In the US, I only find old ones. I see that Deere and Claas have "compact" combines overseas but they're still fairly large and expensive. The Chinese seem to mostly have "corn harvesters" (which I would call "pickers") with odd-looking heads which seem to cut very high (and not pick up lodged corn).
The Sak Pattana SS-320 (http://www.sakpattana.com/en/ss-320s.aspx) looks really close to what I want. The right-side discharge is odd and I don't know if it would even clear the side of my carts, but I'm more concerned about its ability to handle 200-bushel corn day and night for weeks at a time. And, of course, I'd be on my own for service.
Are small US-capable combines no longer made or am I just not looking in the right place? | |
