Haven't been down there since October when we went to Austin, however it's my opinion that I35 from Dallas/Fort Worth will be a mess for at least the next 10 years. We take an alternate route and find it both more relaxing and quicker.

The last time we went down I35 on that stretch we saw a backup of 20 miles on the north bound side.

Texas has 70 to 75 mph speed limits on their secondary roads.
