southern MN | Growing up our rat terrier mix and the cats had an uneasy truce, everyone sorta got along but knew the dog was bigger if any disagreement came about, trees were handy as the dog would win......
Momma cat had kittens in the hay barn, dog comes trotting in. Momma cat walks over to him, makes a strange purr-chirp I hadn't heard before, rubs up against the dog, turns and looks at him in the eye.
Dog looks startled, and runs out of the barn. He wouldn't come back in for a few weeks stopped at the door.......
Was always amazed at the communication they had that day, size didn't matter but the intent was conveyed. Not a harsh action was taken.
