“These are the times that try men's souls.”
Well they will give you the sugar coated tour of how they are good for the environment, that their commodities are used for their church welfare programs first. Then any excess is sold on the open market. However what they will fail to tell you on a tour or even if you are a good card carrying LDS church member their true business ethics. There is two sides of the church, the ecclesiastical side with their welfare programs. Which hands down is a efficient business and needed in this world, but on the other side is the day to day business of running their farms & ranches and other properties they hold. They are cut throat in their day to day running of these businesses. If it means running over LDS members and their families so be it because you are told as a member it is for the betterment of the church as a whole for them to put you and a family farm out of business.

I saw early on years ago they would jump into bed with the environmentalists to keep them off their backs. But didn't care to help the neighbors down the road help fight against them. They are good business men, they know that he who controls the water will control the land at some point and time. They have proven that with the water they have leased off their ranches in Nevada to the city of Las Vegas. Same thing will happen in Puff's area over time, they control the water thus they will have control over things.

Sorry if I've used this as my soap box. But in my opinion I really don't think you will find anything they are doing as earth shattering. I've see a lot of farming practices they have done in my area, and hands down they are money losers. But when you have a unlimited check book you can do those things trying to re-vent the wheel from round wheel to a round wheel.

I do know there is some good church members on this site, I would hope they could chime in and give their two cents. I will respect their opinion, I'm hoping they could change my views of what my perception is of LDS business practices. Hands down I agree with the ecclesiastical side of the church, but when the two clash together it bothers me.

Here is a few links to church videos.
