Subject: Anyone using a Forage Wagon instead of chopper?

DV, NV
Im looking at getting a used Shuitemaker to put in some alfalfa silage. Anyone using one of these type wagons on hay? I'm thinking about doing a few acres every cutting just to clean up pivot headlands and any lower quality or weedy areas of fields, maybe rained on hay if it would work.

Have a 4wd tractor w/blade for packing, how much spoilage loss if piles aren't covered? Probably be 3 small piles around 50acres worth of hay each cutting, maybe more if harvesting rained in hay is an option

What moisture should I shoot for? Feed will be mixed with grain hay or straw in a vertical mixer and fed Nov-April.

Any thoughts? Thanks!
