What about a small mixer in the upstairs of the barn and use all silages and don't feed any long hay. Do you have access to drive in the upstairs?
Did that for years, if your haylage and silage is the right particle length, you will be fine. The cows won't sort so much also. You can feed with your feed cart, one trip around the barn and you are done.
