With the improved feeding of a 6xx you can keep right on harvesting when conditions get bad. We run both and if there is any down corn, I take the 612. The angle of the snout is better, gathering chains are more aggressive, auger feeds better, the ends of the header have a better profile, and the drive chains are heavier along with the drive shafts. No more broken shafts.
The bad, not convinced the clutches are better. The aluminum supports holding the snouts are not very good. Floor is thin and not easily serviced. Early ones the snap rolls won't stay tight and need updated as they go bad, after 2010 model year they are fine.
Conclusion, 6xx beats a 93 series hands down. We are on our second new one and plan to continue running them.
I have broken a hex shaft in our 608.
