Walnut Grove MN USA | Will probably get flamed for this but if you think tillage and chemicals are the answer you will be disappointed. Tillage just plants the stuff, leave the seeds on the surface so weather, insects, birds, and rodents can destroy it. They obviously won't get all of it but every little bit helps. I'm finding a good rye cover crop does a pretty good job of holding it back too. Combine that with a good pre program and post program and it is controllable for now. I notilled into 5 foot rye, put down Zidua Pro and followed up with RU + flexstar and so far it looks good. Some tillage neighbors are having breakthroughs already and it is not from a lack of or poor choice in chemicals. I really think narrow row, less than 15 inch beans will make a return for the canopy. This waterhemp in my area is already become resistant to RU and Flexstar so I need to make a change for next year, not sure what that will be as Liberty beans varieties are limited and I have some challenging conditions. | |
