North Central Illinois | I know nothing about the herbicide aspect of things, but I would be putting out 50 lbs of oats. Keep in mind that grazing the mix in November is a high priority for me, so high above ground biomass is what I am trying to maximize. As is, you should be fine with your planned rates as long as you don't have really high weed pressure. I try to seed my mix of 40 lbs oats, 40 lbs peas, and 3 lbs of winfred brassica in the second week of August so that I am fairly sure to get a freeze before the velvet leaf and Jimson weed have a chance to set seeds, as some often come up in the mix. | |
