Subject: RE: Velveeta is not cheese

ND

guypatrick - 7/21/2017 21:47 It is a "pasteurized, processed American cheese food" Here's the ingredient list: Milk, whey, skim milk, milk protein concentrate, water, milkfat, whey protein concentrate, sodium phosphate, modified food starch; contains less than 2% of: salt, calcium phosphate, dried corn syrup, canola oil, maltodextrin, lactic acid, sorbic acid as a preservative, sodium alginate, sodium citrate, cheese culture, enzymes, apocarotenal (color), annatto (color) I think you could make a suitable substitute by blending whey powder with soybean oil and letting it set up in a loaf pan.

It is not real cheese, that is why you find it out in the middle of the aisle with all those fancy ingredients.
