You would need a large supply tank full of hot water to last all day if you were only heating at night. The heat loss from that would also need to be entered into your equation. As far as efficiencies when the air temp is high or low, That would depend on how low it goes. I can't tell you how to write that equation, but I would guess if the outside temp. stayed above freezing, it would be cheaper to run night time only.
