Good points as always. I've had a theory on how to handle data in a way like you are mentioning Gary but not quite by creating a code that needs to be unlocked but more of proving what you own by geographical location. Maybe combine that with a randomly generated product code only you know like you talk about. Basically, if you prove you farm a certain piece of land (various ways it could be done) then any data you create or manipulate over that area is considered yours. Other companies would have to integrate such a mapping structure but if all farmers would have that potential available to them it could force others to use it and provide control to those growers. Also, to eliminate the whole VC crowd, let the growers themselves only invest in such a tool as long as they prove they farm (few ways to do this as well). Maybe it is a non-profit. This would be an enormous task to build and something which I'd like to build but I'd be curious on others thoughts.
