I don't think there's much else any better than corelle at this point.  I've only broken one in my 10 years of being married.  I dropped it on the floor.  I remember when I was little, 80's  mom had these real heavy thick bowls and plates.  They would break and chip easy as some had some chips in them.  Thinking they were made out of what mugs are made from.
