People like you describe are suckers for good marketing and as a result they equate purchase price with quality. It costs more, so it has to be better. Well some of them have eventually figured out that all modern tractors are pretty similar, but the green ones cost more. Most of the seed companies have good genetics - pioneer is just more expensive. And hell yes Kinze makes a better planter. That's why JD cut them off from purchasing row units - even they recognized it.
John Deere does have this marketing thing down though, I will give them that. Not only by convincing people to spend more money for equipment than they need to, but also when you see city kids who have never ridden on a tractor wearing JD hats and their parents are paying more for shovels and rakes that say JD on them at Home Depot, then their marketing department is doing something right. | |
