The John Deere monitor is not needed to power. The Deere globe can either get it's power from Deere tractor harness (where it plugs in under can roof), or if you purchase specific cable you can power it with your own 12 volt source.

You will however need the monitor to set up serial out settings (baud rate, NMEA strings) that you plan to send to AG leader screen. Once the serial port is set up, you will not need the Deere screen after that.
