There are very few true "artists" out there anymore like Waylon. I have respect for anyone who can write and perform their own material (music & lyrics together) - in any genre. But Waylon combined that talent with an incredible voice. In the Statler Brothers' song about being a country star, you can either play an instrument well, have a gimmick, or you can "learn to sing like Waylon". And out of all the songs Waylon sang over the years that were covers, I have yet to find one that I think someone else sang better than him.
Waylon's son shooter certainly does not have his father's voice, but I do like the lyrics of his song Outlaw You. It describes Jason Aldean well I think. | |
