Keep line of sight between the controller and the drone. Buildings, groves, can disturb the signal in a hurry. Especially if close to you on the ground.

Generally being higher up allows a better angle for the signals to communicate between the drone and the controller, until you get familiar with it.

Power lines can be a problem with interference, stay away from them in your take off and landing area at least. Not often, but I've hear of high power lines confusing the signals if you get too close as you fly.

If the drone loses contact with the controller, it should be set to fly 100 feet high and come home to where it took off, then land. So - take off in an open spot, be away from trees and buildings and power lines as it can drift a dozen feet or so and not land perfectly where it took off from. Think through what happens if things go wrong so it has a good chance of coming back to you undamaged.

Do you have the standard or the advanced or pro?

Paul
