First ever case of pink eye . Probably my favorite replacement heifer went blind after pinkeye . Only check every 4-5 days out on pasture and all was well. Poured and gets free choice wind and rain mineral from Purina with altosid . SE SD Why???!

According to my vet, three conditions have to be present in order to get pink eye: Eye irritation, sunlight, and a pinkeye strain present. Eliminate ONE of those three things and the cattle won't get pinkeye.

Thus the reason many people clip pastures - eliminate or reduce the irritation. Or glue a patch over the infected eye - darkness.
