Many Superintendents will not take the position unless the vote is unanimous.

They do not want a divided board to work with from the start.

If you really want to learn about a candidate check with the Janitors at the Schools where he/she has worked.

If there is anyone who knows who gets along with who and will talk it is the Janitors.

No one wants to go and work for a board/school that doesn't have mutual liking of them. I guess if they are hard pressed for a job/paycheck, they might.. but most great candidates are going to have options. They will really be turned off by a split board/district.

We had that happen with our high school football coach a while back. He came in with all these accolades, and a good guy. Well, two of the dad's on the board knew he ran a pass first offense.. and both their sons were RB/FB types of guys. They voted no, AND the coach was present for the meeting LOL. After the vote, his offer was passed, and he declined as soon as they offered. Didn't like the fact that 2 guys that represent the entire district/community didn't like him.
