Take a good hard look at the temperature gradient. The air temperature usually goes down by 3 degrees per 1,000' of altitude. With warm air at ground level and cooler air at higher altitudes, you will have some vertical wind currents. In this case, the vapor drift or very small spray particles will rise, disperse in the upper atmosphere and become so dilute you will not have any problems. On the other hand, if several people are spraying thousands of acres at the same time the concentration in the atmosphere may be high enough to cause problems.

If you have cool moist soil from rain or irrigation, the temperature at ground level may be lower than the air temperature at 1,000 - 5,000 feet. In this case the vapor or small spray particles will not rise and disperse. The material will move downwind. The concentration of pesticide in the air may be high enough to cause problems. You can have a similar situation with a cover of low lying clouds. The cloud cover will keep the material from rising and dispersing.

With low humidity, the water in the smaller spray particles will quickly evaporate and the spray particles will tend to move upward. With higher humidity, the water will not evaporate as quickly and the slightly larger particles will not move upward as quickly. However, these particles will move downwind.
