| Looking good but I am surprised how little rye residue appears to be left.
the attached pic of soybeans at the WIU Organic Research farm was taken this afternoon.
these beans were planted on 6/7 into a shallow furrow due to the residue managers being set moderately aggressively.
They have been tine weeded once (6/20) which mostly filled in the furrows.
headed out rye was terminated with a rotavator about 3 weeks before the beans were planted.
the field was rotavated a second time and then worked with a Soil Finisher right before planting.

BTW pics 1-19 in this album show the tine weeding :

pic 20 = 30" NT beans planted on 5/31
pics 21- 23 = NT beans drilled on 2 planting dates (5/9 and 5/18)
pics 24&25 show the effect of undigested CC and weed residues on corn growth
Lynx winter peas and weeds were incorporated with a rotavator on 6/1
Corn was planted on 6/2 after the field was worked again with a soil finisher.
in pic 24, the 4 rows growing where we did a second pass with the rotavator are a little taller and darker green
in pic 25, rows on right that were planted where tillage was performed about 3 weeks earlier are much taller and darker green
