We have a open front hayshed faces south 60 years old. Always my impression that when the wind blew hard from the south that the air pressure builds and kinda holds wind out. As far as leaving the wall at the back open at the top to let wind out, I have seen a neighbor do that 3 times and loose the roofs. My thought was if you let the wind blow through you create lift like a airplane wing. Not scientific just my thoughts
