If corn stayed at a dollar a bushel you can bet there would still be guys renting ground. (Many have other business interests and pay hired help to farm it on the side. The bankers son. The Deere dealers son. The doctor. The local seed dealer. The broker. The dry wall wholesaler. etc. )
More and more the land is held by non farmers. Those land lords know who the well to do renters are to contact that can sustain low prices or need a tax write off or provide a relative with a job
Non farmer land lords are not into share cropping or something other than cash rent.
If you have a day job now is not the time to quit!
If you don't perhaps now is the time to start looking.
