Good that you are wet and cool down there.

I live in NW Iowa and have received only one-half inch for the whole month-to-date for June. I would describe June as being much hotter than normal.

My guess would be that there are quite a few areas in Nebraska and the Dakota's that are the same as us. This long dry spell with lots of hot windy days have depleted a lot of the moisture. If the crops are not rooted, they will be solely dependent upon timely rains.

Too me this looks like a dryer and hotter year relative to the past three years and there are likely going to be quite a few dry pockets that do not yield so well in the Western Corn Belt region.

From the road you can see lots of emergence issues as well in my area. Some Soybeans are blooming already and other fields are really small with lots of bare spots. My guess is most of that gets replanted and they will have to roll the dice with short season #'s and a late frost.
