Subject: protein.

There's starting to be reports of protein coming in..

Western Kansas is trying to go between the rains.. and the hail.. It sounds like things are pretty variable..

a) snow event
b) wheat streak mosaic
c) downed wheat
d) etc..

They are probably not going to have the crop they did last year.. however..

"a friend of a friend of a friend.." for what's it's worth..

"half section of dryland.. making 70.. 13% protein."
"got some 12's.."
"broker offered to send a truck to the FIELD to pickup on quality.. offered $+.60 at the field.."

How much??  Idk.. but there are pockets of protein out there...

If spring wheat is $2.00 over HRW Cash.. Cash HRW is $3.80'ish for ordinaries in a lot of area's of SW Ks..

There's ALOT of room for a protein scale...  CHECK IT.. it may be worth something..

edit add: flip side.. those spring wheat pic's above do look pretty BAD..

b) but people are gonna go through this HRW Wheat with a fine tooth comb looking for protein..

I'm struggling to make 11's here.. found some mid 11's.. but reports of 12's and 13's not too far away..

Going to be interesting how this thing plays out.
