Subject: RE: 1974

1974 was a rough year fo be in farming at least here in Nebraska. It started out wet but the tables turned pretty fast when July hit. Temps were over 100 degrees for the whole month. An the wind blew every day. In 5 days the dryland corn was gone. And the irrigated was a battle to keep ahead off the weather. We also fed cattle which was a disaster that year. Corn went to the price everybody is recieving now. About $1,50 more then it iwas. Cattle prices dropped like a rock. Got the first cost off the cattle back when the fats were sold. Then to top it all off it froze the first off September. An the soybeans were completely gone. We survived through that but it was tough.
