I've been farming full time since the late 80's ..87,88 ish. Spent a total of $18,000 on pickup purchases 8 for one 10 for the other. Close to 300,000 miles on each. Yeah i've put in a transmission or 2, and a short block in 1. Done plenty of pulling, but take it easy. What i've saved on insurance, by carrying liability only and a big chunk of change not going to the courthouse to license every year(because neither were new) I can handle a few repairs.

Alot of new pickups have dents in their quarter panels and a bent up tailgates, before they are 6 months old

That's fine, but there are plenty of farms that require pickups to run 2-4x as many miles per year as you apparently do. A $10k used pickup every 15 years isn't going to cut it.
