We deal with too much heat a lot of years during grain fill in wheat. The last 2 years we have been lucky to have cool temperatures and last year was a record crop for us. This year looks like it filled good too.
Even with irrigation and other management practices, you can not overcome what the heat does to wheat during grain fill. We think it moves the process along too fast and doesn't fill as much. Too much heat can lower yields by 30% has been our experience.
