Dufur, OR | I have used a pressure switch with a 500, 750, and fmx with an old ground drive sprayer we have which has a hydraulic controlled on/off valve - probably similar to what you are describing. It works great and one advantage of the pressure based switch is it only paints if it is actually spraying. We set the on pressure just a little above the pressure for the nozzle diaphrams to turn on.
As mentioned in the other posts - for the 750 and fmx just need a switch between pins 10 and 11. And then in the settings you can pick between painting when the switch is open or closed. I ebayed a stainless pressure switch after a first attempt with an old oil pressure switch which died fairly soon from corrosion.
