NoDak | I agree with training first, then using the collar. My lab is pretty well behaved, I put the collar on while hunting just "in case". I very rarely ever have had to use it, generally just putting it on is enough. She listens well, but even better with it on. Dogs are smart, it doesn't take them long to learn. But consistency is KEY. Also, keep an even voice (which I have a hard time doing when frustrated with dog) and show the dog what you want it to do before scolding it for not doing/ doing wrong. They don't know until you teach them, and they want to please you. Good luck! | |
