It's good to check, but I wouldn't expect an alternator issue to be a cause. The system should maintain communication even with the alternator off.

Sometimes an IBBC on the tractor going bad can cause this, but it's a tough one to conclusively diagnose. If you have a known trouble free IBBC you can swap out, that would be helpful.

It could be helpful to check voltages at the master module. Pin W and Pin P can be ignored, they're not relevant to communication. The rest should have power or ground as indicated, except CAN hi and low. They should have about 2.5 volts when referenced against ground.
