In theory the RO should take out bacteria. I sold them for a few years. I had a customer that lived a mile downstream from the city lagoon. He had a cased well 100 feet deep or so. The RO did not keep the bacteria out of the drinking water. Chlorine and bacteria damage the membrane. They did make a special CTA membrane for chlorine but it was better to remove chlorine ahead of the membrane.
