Central Texas | Bought some thin pairs April 25 and weaned off the bigger calves May 25. Sorted off weaned cows for silage feeding trial and weighed them today. Pairs were rotationally grazed on ample ryegrass that was very good quality when started and good quality at end. Manure was loose pancake batter in beginning and started thickening recently indicating very good nutrition. Cows not weighed at purchase.
My question is how much weight did these cows gain in 33 days while nursing 400+ lb calves.
First pic is of the larger group of pair cows when bought on April 25 and other pics were made today. FWIW cows weighed 1128 today.
