They will start to slip. I have a couple go bad every year. Precision Ag can rebuild them for about half of new price and do a good job. I have a couple spares and when one goes bad I send it off for repair.

How do you tell when they start to slip?

On my planter when the row stops planting and I get an alarm. The weak clutch stops planting. When I stop the planter and start again it will usually grab again until eventually it will stop again. Usually happens in the morning when I start for the day when everything is cool. It can be working fine the day before.
