Subject: Rotational grazing in (almost) a rain forest....

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Well, another day in the rain forest of SW WI today...  It's raining again. It's  the 23rd of May and we are already well above the average 3.5" for the whole month.  It's also been cool along with the rain, so grass is growing like crazy. Ground is completely saturated so the water is just sitting in our clay soils. No way to make hay in the mud so just moving the cows through as quickly as I can to try to top off the forage before too much goes to seed. But better than a drought.

I moved the wire between thunderstorms today. Grass is so tall it's hard to see the calves.  Here are some pics from the wire move today.
