NEMO | Thought I was the only idiot no tilling a garden. Rows are 30" apart on ridges about 10" high. Everything is mulched with a thick layer of straw in fall. Come spring, straw is removed from ridges to let them dry and then we plant. When plants are big enough, we pull or hoe what weeds have come up and then remulch ridge tops. After 10 years of the old straw rotting down, the soil has went from clay to more of a black compost look. | |
