Subject: Anyone raise winter rye in North Dakota? Cover crop or a forage?

North Dakota
Been notilling and using cover crops as radish and turnip for awhile and I've been seeing some of this soybeans into standing rye and has got me interested!! We have talked about seeding winter rye before and getting a hay crop off it and getting beans in right behind it anyone done this what kind of forage value do you get out of winter rye baled? Also wondering about it just seeding into it with an 1890 notill drill, whats it do on sandy soil? Does it really dry the ground out? Much bennifit over notilling into last year's residue or a fall seeded cover crop such as radish n turnip mix?? Thanks for the Info
