| We have a west / north windbreak planted of American Arborvitae's. The trees have multiple roots that go into the ground and apparently are shallow rooted trees. As they age (mow 20-years old) they do not seem to be very strong in the wind as what other trees are.
We have planted 4-years ago Lilac's to the west to tighten in he bottom of the windbreak and are removing "Cranberry" plantings to what used to be the outside.
Question: Would you recommend using Arborvitae's today? or Maybe a different variety? What is your recommendation for a good long lasting windbreak? Thank-you in advance.
