Subject: When Sensors go bad...

I have an Ag Leader Seed Tube monitor with dickey john high rate sensors...I noticed the singulation drops(in some cases to 70%) on random seed rows when I put the planter in the ground for the first 100 feet or so...then the singulation goes back to 98%. It doesnt happen every pass but just randomly. I cannot find any worn bearings stiff chains or anything that would seem to be causing this. When I dig up the rows which have indicated poor singulation, they seem to be planted about one seed every 6 inches just like I want. Could dirty sensors be causing this or do they fail after a while? I would say these sensors have probably planted about 200 acres a row. This is on a JD 7000 planter. Any other ideas what could be causing this?
