| I am becoming a big fan of wireless mesh systems - however, some are quite pricey.
The newest 5ghz wireless systems have problems travelling through the walls - especially concrete and steel. Enter wireless mesh networks. Basically, they set up two different networks - one you use for your devices, the second is invisible that the mesh units use to communicate between themselves.
I have been reading a lot about the Plume Wifi systems - simple, expandable, easy to install. It's a little pod that plugs into an outlet - a six-pack of pods runs about $370, additional pods are about $70 each. Don't go cheap and try to get buy - get more, sprinkle them around, but I would make sure you have one near a window that faces your building you want wireless in, and then have a pod in the window of the outlying building.
I also have poor to crappy cell coverage. My Galaxy S5 has "Advanced Calling" option to let me call over wifi - problems gone away with good wifi signals.
