The slope in that section (assuming no other water but the Hickenbottom's) will determine the volume of water that flows in that section. The depth to the orifice from ground level and 70% of the above ground height to where the maximum depth are used to calculate the head on the orifice. There is a chart in the NRCS Engineering Handbook that I used to calculate capacity. The chart has the head distance on one axis and the orifice diameter across the other, where they intersect is a value of the flow. It is in the section for terrace design. Your local NRCS should have no problem providing a copy for you. I looked in my old files but have not found my formulas in my old desk files.
