Arva, Ontario | Jed, Sometimes the hill blocking it is a good thing. In my part of the world, and we're not nearly as rolling as others, we can have 40' of elevation difference in 2000', combined with complex topography. As well, our topsoil is 6-8" thick, and down 30" are rocks that will fill a pickup bed. Ergo, we are wiser to leave the hills in place, run drain tile in that dirt so it has more water absorbing capacity when it rains, and where water congregates and wants to run, use berms and big mains to get it underground - all with the intent of leaving the topsoil where we found it. Tile contractors up here are like dirt pan contractors in your part of the world. It's all about water management, we just do it differently. Ken |
