| How many days of grazing did you get from it? Cattle can take a lot of N (almost all of it) from wheat grazing and then concentrate it where they urinate. They won't graze where they've gone so more growth and tillers there. Plus the actual N applied in the spot they urinate can be equivalent to as much as 1000#N/ac in addition to the 150# you put on (since they didn't graze there).
Cattle grazing used up the N applied at planting time.
Since it's notill, surface litter can tie up 40+ pounds. Plus if you used urea or UAN, and it didn't rain or get watered in right away, some may have been lost there.
Maybe 70-80# just wasn't enough in spring? | |
