While they "can" help you capture more upside without betting the farm.............it seems as though (especially in the case of options) they usually just add another cost to the business of farming. With things as tight as they are right now I don't see myself buying options anytime soon.


I agree about buying options. Lately it seems it is better to sell them and collect the premium when they expire worthless after the grains trade sideways for months.
Things are tight around here after two years of low prices. Only a tremendous growing season last year kept guys going into this spring. Another leg down and there will be a shakeout.
